PACS Desk - Radiology Furniture
-
We have been in the office furniture business since 1976 and have worked with many radiologists and facilities managers at hospitals in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Plus radiologists and facilities managers from all over the country.
- When we asked what features they need for their reading room furniture, they told us they need the latest in ergonomic furniture technology. However, they do not want to have to pay $12,900 to $9,500 for a full featured reading room desk for their PACS workstations. Tom's Table is fully loaded for $5,999, and includes shipping to the lower 48-contiguous states. A little know fact about the electric motors used by all manufacturers is they all are made by LINAK, so why should you have to pay more?
- With that in mind, I had Viking, who has been manufacturing high quality office furniture since 1975, design and manufacture Tom's Table. Viking is the manufacturer of the Banana/Ero series of Reading Room Furniture.
- So based on the radiologists facilities managers input we have added more practical features to save you money too. Here is what we have designed for you.
- To make the ordering process easy for you, one model number gets you everything pictured. Here are the standard features you get with one model number: 1). The panels are 24" high to create a sense of personalization, create a visual, and acoustical barrier for the radiologist. 2). Two model number TSK-LED adjustable task lites. 3). One DIS-1x2 dual monitor arm. holds two monitors. 4). One power tap. 5). One CPU holder model EHVCPU-6. You do have to select the laminate above. You also have the option of selecting the 96" wide model above too.
- Designed to allow a radiologist the ability to have extra privacy and reduce the noise around you for better concentration. The panels are 24" high to create a sense of personalization, create a visual, and acoustical barrier for the radiologist.
- Ergonomically correct design: Both the front and back tops are curved to embrace the human form and respond to the dynamic movements of the computer user. Just like the cockpit a a fighter jet.
- Dual surfaces: Two surfaces that adjust independently of the other with electric motors allowing quick, easy, and ergonomically correct positioning for each user. Each surface lifts up to 600 lbs. of monitors, CPU, printers, etc. For some reason competing manufacturers do not list the lifting capacity. Ask them why.
- Strength: Tom's Table is incredibly strong due to the heavy duty steel sub-substructure which is 16 Gauge 1” x 1” steel tubing. Additionally, the connection from the top to the steel substructure is a nut to bolt connection which is a much stronger connection compared to other manufacturers. Competing manufacturers do not have a steel sub-structure and just run wood screws in to the undersides of the tops and are not nearly as strong.
- Warranty is 5 years on everything. We build them to last.
- Cable management: Equipped with cable management 2'H x 3.75"D, attaches under the front or back surface. The cable management conceals and distributes all of your cables.
- Power consumption: The front surface has two electric motors and the back surface also has two electric motors that adjust independent of the other. The power consumption of each set of motors is 3.4 amps when loaded with up to 600 lbs. The motors are DC and draw 24 volts when in use.
- Travel range: Two travel ranges. From 28" to 44", and optionally from 25" to 50" (lifts 350 lbs per surface). The electric motors automatically level the surfaces as they are adjusted in height, even if they are weighted unevenly.
- Top Sizes: Standard dimensions are: Overall: 70"w. X 48 1/2"d. Front top is 70"W. x 23 5/8"d. Back top is 68.25"w. X 19 5/8"d. We can increase the width up to 8 foot (96") without any major structural changes. Installation is not included, but is very easy and takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Basically all you have to do is attach the two tops to the base and all the mounting hardware is included.
- It should be noted that several manufactures have a similar product, but with tilting surfaces using electric motors ... this really is not a good idea. Here is why. The radiologists and facilities managers we have talked to have expressed strong concerns about when the surface is tilted up to 15 degrees that the possibility of spilling a cup of coffee, or soda on their laptop computers, expensive smart cell phones or important documents negates any ergonomic benefits of a tilting surface.
Our Customers Say ...
Agnes says: Rating: Excellent. "I found Ergonomic Home on the internet, but called them to ask questions about custom sizes. He was helpful and accurate, and took time to answer all my questions thoroughly.
